Most people manage with a 140-litre container. If that turns out to be too small, it's easy to switch to a bigger one. In addition, you get a practical basket that can stand under the kitchen counter and paper bags to go with it.

Non-recyclable waste container:
The smallest container is suitable for small households – with one or two adults The medium-sized one is suitable for a family with 2-3 teenagers. The biggest one may be suitable if you have additional properties or if your family is bigger, especially if you have young children in your household. Used nappies, for example, take up lots of space..

Paper container:
Most people manage with a 240-litre container. If that turns out to be too small, it's easy to switch to a bigger one.

Wherever is best for you, but on collection days they must be by the driveway to your property - i.e. near the public thoroughfare. Call us for more information on this.

Food waste is collected every 14 days. Non-recyclable waste, paper waste and household plastic is collected every 4 weeks.
The containers should be in place for emptying from 06.00 in the morning, as that is when the waste collectors begin work. There may sometimes be changes to set collection days due to holidays and similar. On such days the rounds will start at 04.00. So check your collection calendar carefully. For most people, it is sensible to put your containers out the evening before collection.

For more information about collection dates, see the collection calendar.
This is your responsibility. You are also responsible for ensuring that the containers do not obstruct traffic or cause inconvenience to others.

It must be easy for the collection crew to access the containers; in winter you must ensure that snow is cleared away and sufficient grit is scattered. If snow is not cleared sufficiently or grit not scattered, there is a risk the containers may not be emptied.
No. The only exception is paper waste – for those who do not have their own container for paper.

If you have non-recyclable waste that will not fit in the containers, you must take it yourself to the recycling station in your municipality.
